Portfolio

These two pieces were done for a client who wanted a profile pic and cover photo for their website. In the first project I used shading and shadow to create the appearance of depth within silhouettes. In the second  project I tried my hand at digital painting additionally to pen-tooling.

This was the first project I did for a client. It is a book cover with hand-drawn sketches that I implemented as well as different filters such as screen and multiply for the lighting and color transitions. On the left is the design direction where I learned how to do text by hand and also shows the scroll I drew, which I then brought in to Photoshop. I also hand-drew the pillars inlaid on the scroll which I added later. On the bottom right is the finished product and on the top left shows the book cover with guide lines and bleed marks for the editor and shows some of the changes we took out along the way such as the pillars and the sharper focus on the lotus in the center of the scroll.

A client approached me recently with t-shirt design concepts for an anarcho-libertarian page and these are the top 3 out of 6 I designed for them. The first shirt design is a killdoser t-shirt with a semi-Greek font representing malon labe meaning; to not give up your right to bear arms. I used dirt spraying to represent movement and the ashy grey brush strokes are to give the killdoser an aged look (battered over time). The second shirt represents crypto-currency using block chains as well as some binary. The third shirt is designed to look metallic and raw for the bullets and metal.

In this project I created a brand for a previous Client’s online site for their book.

I used two new techniques, one to create the glowing orbs falling into the lotus and the other to create the rainbow distortion on the crystal lotus.

The night sky was hand painted using digital painting and the glowing dust was brushed on and filtered. The lotus was digitally painted as well, and filtered numerous times to get the sparkling and glowing effects.

Here is a 3D-coin I made in photo shop for a clients webpage. This is my very first 3D piece and took me a week of study. I learned how to bevel and emboss as well as how to use 3D.

The first horizontal I used the refine edge tool to cut and smooth images. The first image on the second row is my first take on a magazine layout. The skills I learned include fonts and layout structure.

The second one shows me graphically painting on armor and isolating the dragon on the left of the image so I could change the color from blue to black. This image shows the before and after shots of the project with the slightly edited one on the bottom and the main edit on the top.

The middle piece and the third piece in the second row shows me learning how to pen-tool and apply shadows.

On the final row on the bottom is a tree that I pen-tooled and leaves i brushed on using Digital painting.

And last, but certainly not least is a GIF and has images I cut and smoothed with the refine- edge tool that I put together as a high-school project to describe myself using visual art. The dragons and books are for my sense of adventure while the speakers and lava lamps are for my fun and wild side. The kitty is because cats are my favorite animal and the Paris photograph stands for my love of photography and art.

Here are some of the side-projects I did for fun and for  practice, as well as me practicing so I could sharpen some of my skills .

Here is a small sample of my best photography skills. These photographs I have taken on some of my adventures with my family. The top left is a photograph of the Rocky Mountains taken from a plane that was headed East from California to Colorado. The top right photograph is a boat in Hawaii. The third and fourth photographs are California sunsets taken in Lake Elsinore while the fifth is a Hawaiian sunset. The sixth photograph was taken on a road trip from California to Colorado on the way back. This photograph is of a loop-shaped sculpture in the rain captured from a car window. The last photograph is a photograph I captured of lightning in Lake Elsinore California.
